Auto-Summarizer is a Chrome extension that allows users to summarize visible text on any webpage using AI. This extension does not collect, store, or sell any personal user data.

2. What Data We Access

Website Content: When you click the "Summarize Page" button, the extension extracts the visible text (document.body.innerText) from the current webpage and sends it to the OpenAI API to generate a summary.

This data is used only temporarily and is not stored by the extension itself.

3. What Data We Store

OpenAI API Key: If you enter your own OpenAI API key, it is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.sync. This is only accessible by the extension and is never transmitted elsewhere.

4. What We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect or store:

Your name, email, or identity

Passwords or authentication data

Web browsing history

Location data

Financial or health information

Any data not directly related to generating the summary

5. Third-Party Services

The extension uses the OpenAI API to generate summaries.

Any data sent to OpenAI is subject to their privacy policy.

No other third-party services are used.

6. Security

We use the Chrome storage.sync API to store your API key securely in your browser. It is never sent to any third-party service besides OpenAI (during API requests you initiate).
